In 2021, we published “So, You Need to Hire an Architect?: A client’s guide to enjoying design and construction.” This book encapsulates our learnings from hundreds of client interactions, aiming to demystify the architect-client relationship and ensure project success.
Our Studio: A Testament to Our Craft
Our office at 212 E. Pine St., Lakeland, Florida, is more than just a workspace—it’s a living example of our dedication to architectural preservation and innovation.
Fun Facts about Our Studio:
- The building was originally constructed in 1921 with exterior walls of concrete.
- Marlon purchased the building in 2008, and began a complete renovation that year.
- The entire interior was gutted, and usable materials were salvaged to be reused — this included the original windows.
- Much of the interior structure was unsafe and had to be reconstructed.
- Each of the two floors in the main building comprise approx. 2,635 sf with the barber shop adding another 1,040 sf.
- The renovation required the approval of both the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority and the Historic Preservation Board.
This intensive restoration showcases our commitment to preserving architectural heritage while creating functional, modern spaces.
